Questions for newsletter owners/senders

  1. What is your newsletter about?
  2. What's your open rate and click rate? (optional nosy question 😁)
  3. What do you use for sending it?
  4. Text or html?
  5. Do you monetize your newsletter? If yes, how (recurring sponsor, affiliate links etc.)?

Thanks for the answer, that newsletter archive looks fire! (But there's a horizontal scroll on the page)

Is the banner ad a recurring sponsorship?

@alina ooh thanks! i need to get rid of the horizontal scroll! 🙈 Yeah I work with one sponsor and we vary the banner each week. I don't just work with any sponsor that'll pay though, this is a chosen sponsor that committed to work with us the way we like - and it works great for both of us.

Thanks for your answer. Sweet open rate, now I know I'm doing something wrong with my newsletter 😄 Any shareable secrets about that?

@alina thanks :) Not sure how to share a mailchimp newsletter with you but a)keep it personable b) interesting subject line e.g. not "day 4 of my blog", c) offer value and know your audience

Thanks so much for the tips! Now I think I have an idea on how to improve.

For a) I do a so-and-so job. I mean I personally sign and address everything, but I don't add enough content/text I think.

b) is my biggest problem. I get too lazy when I get to that part. I'm not happy with the titles I choose and I think they're too long.

c) For me open rate and click rate improved after I added double opt-in, but still it's nowhere near 70%. I'm starting to suspect that not adding extra value compared to the website might be one of the reasons why.

To share a mail from mailchimp go to Campaigns. For each campaign in the list there's a "View email" option on the "View report" button's arrrow. For example this is one of my emails https://mailchi.mp/94fa75544121/fresh-on-fontsarena-free-helvetica-now-font-and-more

😄 Best answer at 1. Thanks for the input!

I love the name "swap's musings". Actually explains pretty well what's what with the newsletter. Or at least for me it would seem like a collection of things you found inspiring, relevant and worthy to write about and share.
