Should I release a single player version of my game?

Hi Makers,

I'm building a cross platform game which, in my opinion, is best suited for mobile. I have currently finished developing the core mechanics for the game and have an initial single player version of the game with some basic AI working (still needs more polish). The initial vision for the game was for it to be multiplayer based. But recently, I started wondering if I should release the idea as single player first, in order to validate the idea and gameplay mechanic, or if I should spend the extra time to develop the multiplayer feature into the game before releasing? Thoughts and any experience are welcomed :)

Yes, you should. Keep in mind, some people play games during their commute and not always have cellular coverage at all. They can still check your game out and provide some feedback and then com eback for multiplayer version later, when it is ready! Ship it!

Thanks, those were some good points. I hadn’t thought about not having cellular coverage so having an offline version shipped is definitely beneficial. I will spend a bit more time on polishing and building a more competitive AI and shipping it! :)

+1 - release it. Do it to validate the idea, as you said!
