Pairfonts: What do you guys think of an Orange Mode?
The project in question: https://pairfonts.com
Dark mode is all the rage right now but for Pairfonts I'm thinking of implementing an orange mode.
The default texts are going to be Trump quotes, and the interface will be "tanned". What do you guys think?
Need help brainstorming some ideas that could be added to orange mode. Also let me know if this is a bad idea.
Seems like your goal is to mock him, why stoop to that level? All it does is encourage more bullying IMO.
p.s. using your site is such an easy/quick way to find fonts, thank you.
You're right. I got carried away.
Thanks for the compliment though. I'm looking for more things to add. I've some things planned ranked by priority,
- Ability to have more than 2 text segments (useful if you're comparing fonts for logotype),
- A print button. It'll hide the navbar, toolbar and the code segment so you only print the important stuff,
- Content segment with featured fonts, suggested pairs etc
Is there anything you think I could add to this list?
p.s: The reply chain is π₯
- I'd like to be able to pin fonts, so for instance I might like the header font so I'd like to pin that, and then be able to click the "Surprise Me" button to change the paragraph font but keep the heading and vice versa. That way I can compare how they might look together, but still do it randomly. (hope that makes sense).
- Multiple text segments and suggested pairs might be nice as you mentioned.
- As a payed feature you could allow people to add their sites and their font combinations so that 1. They can get some basic exposure and 2. Gives people real-world examples of how the font pairs are used. Like a $5/mo kind of thing.
Hey, I've added the pin text feature. It's a lock icon in the active text segment toolbar. Hope you like it.
@goodguyshun Maybe instead of other text segments, what if you did other standard text tags. ie. Sort of like they do here: https://getbootstrap.com/docs/4.2/content/typography/
- H1 - H6
- Ordered and Un-ordered Lists
- Multiple Paragraphs
- Links
- Blockquotes
- Tables
- Buttons
- Form Controls / Labels
- Navbar
@micahiverson do you mean controlling the html element added when adding a new text segment?
@goodguyshun No I just mean show those elements by default to show how they would look with the selected font. Might be a bit much though.
@micahiverson Might be good as an option to print? Or maybe an alternative view. Flip the editor to see how a chosen font would look with those elements. Maybe start with H1-H6, paragraph, links and list. Could add other elements eventually.
I'll think about it. The idea is a little fuzzy to me.
Personally, unless you're an established brand, I wouldn't do "themed" versions of the site that aren't actually useful to the end user. Spend that time on continuing to add features and functionality that are helpful to visitors and will make them keep coming back. A joke themed mode really won't do that (and, despite my political leanings, seems tacky / spiteful in this situation, IMO).
Very bad idea. I don't understand why you would even think about inserting anything political into something so apolitical.
yeah I felt it was a good idea for a very short period of time. Once I slept on it, I realized there are other more important things I should spend my time on
Wonderful Idea for Orange Mode, Bad for The Trump Thing. I made a Blue/Red Mode for My Site Scratchprixy.tk

I See Dark mode doesn't fit some styles, and Blue mode or Other color modes bring differnt types of Work to the Web
