Anyone tried 3rd party batteries for mac books?

Hey makers,

My mac started giving "Service Battery" warning since a month. These 3rd party batteries on Amazon are quite tempting. Anyone have any experience with them?

Yes. You can't expect the same quality assurance as the original, but I usually take that risk…especially since today's macs have terrible quality, so maybe the 3rd party battery ends up being higher quality, you just don't pay the price for the brand.

I've replaced my battery too (of a 2010 MacBook ;) after the original battery failed. It's doable! Tricky thing is that it is glued to the casing so be sure to check a tutorial video for you MacBook model how to best remove it.

I've tried random batteries from Ebay and from iFixit and both worked OK. Note that replacing batteries on the new MacBooks is pretty complicated due to their placement and configuration.

FYI Apple's going to start cracking down on 3rd party batteries soon on iOS. Might also happen on MacOS too.
