Website Framework or Builder

Hey guys! So I'm an app maker and it has come time to build a website for my latest app! I was wondering what you guys recommend as the best way to put together a nice simple website. Should I find a website builder, or maybe use like a Twitter bootstrap? What's the best combination of flexibility for the future and ease of use now. I am somewhat comfortable with HTML and JS, but definitely not my expertise.

Thank!

ps. does maker log have a slack channel? That'd be fun!

Depends on what you're up to.

  • if you want it fast, take a website builder. (https://carrd.co/)
  • if you want it flexible, take a framework. (https://getbootstrap.com/)
  • if you want to be independent, flexible, future-proof, quick to add extensions, and you want to do a saas / shop later, take a cms (drupal, wordpress, quiqqer)

Just my 2 cents

//edit you just want to present an app? use carrd

Awesome guys, thanks for the feedback!!

I'm planning to start with a personal website, and then link out to an app website. Carrd looks great for the app website!

You can even start with a template and then customize it, like Cruip or a more dirty template which I made Makerlog App Landing

I highly recommend Bulma for a CSS Framework - it's super light weight but really useful. I couple that with VueJS in my projects, but it's not needed.

Bulma itself is pure CSS, there is no JS component (unlike Bootstrap).

We are currently using http://Tilda.cc to create our Studio website (http://TheStudio.io)

You could also try Squarespace as well.

In the future there may be an easy way to create a design with Figma and then use Webflow to quickly create a site.
