Question about naming
Hey, everybody! I'm making a service that will guide beginners through the first steps of making their projects(like validating ideas, talking to users, getting feedback and so on) and it's time to choose a name. I'm thinking about "Maker Fellow", but as a not native English speaker I'm not sure is "fellow" appropriate in the name of a product. Can you please help? Thanks!
fellow means "a boy or a person" , it's not bad to use. But, I think name should serve the purpose of the product. For now i came up with "MakersGuide".
Thanks! MakersGuide is another option I'm considering, unfortunately, makersguide.com is not available, so it will be getmakersguide.com and it seems to be a bit long for me
This sounds exactly like a design sprint (search: design sprint jake knapp). Maybe call it “Maker Sprint” because sprint is a buzz word 😂
I like your idea!
Have you thought about doing a bit keyword research to maybe find name which potentially helps with SEO? Ubersuggest is a free tool for this. No registration needed. You can type in your ideas and see how many monthly searches are done for the term. It also gives you suggestions for alternative names. Just an idea.
In my opinion, when looking for a name, you should find one that is brandable so that you can be the first google search result for your own name. In this way, if people forget or mistype your URL they can still find you. it will also be easier to have the social handlings, if you need them. Another thing, there are so many maker+word outthere that it is becoming harder and harder to remember.
@blairrorani what do you mean for "this"? I can answer with a question. How many huge companies have what they do in their name?
