What other niche do you think a product like @getmakerlog would be useful for?

I'm currently about to build a product for a particular trade niche. So thought of making a tasks log also to build a community around that product. Then i'm thinking a lot of other niches in world would benefit from a product such as getmakerlog. What do you think?

One niche would definitely be fitness & health! Track your workouts, meals or even sweet-cravings that you defeated. I used to log my push-ups in WIP chat last year and it was surprisingly motivating!

^^^ I agree with fitness & health as a niche. I was thinking about doing something like this, as a feature of a greater site. Problem is I can't code, and wanted to do it somehow on a wordpress site. Nothing exists to mimic this kind of feature.

SaaS idea: To-Do/Habit tracking wordpress plug-in? 🤓

@tomaswoksepp Thats so true.

@alex wow, i'm surprised that isn't a thing yet. That's a cool SaaS product waiting to be milked.

@isaacholmgren That's some list. Apt.

@tomaswoksepp @alex @seunoyebode - Already working on a generic Makerlog type social platform where people can post "Goals" instead of "Products", and share their daily updates on those goals. The beta version will be done by next Monday (hopefully :P). The project is here at #proggress

Also, not at all thinking of directly competing with Makerlog. A lot of UI decisions and features here are specific to the Maker community, which makes it a perfect place for Makers. I am targeting other general audience.

@sergio your guidance will be super-valuable in this endeavor. I will definitely bug you for inputs and ideas once the beta is up. ;)

Mental health? Track if your took meds, track positive/negative moods, track daily activities to recuperate/feel better, get support from a supportive community who won't judge.

@jasonleow This is interesting, tracking positive/negative moods to find correlations. I think over time you'll find possible connections to how you can feel better. Not sure how this could be used in a Makerlog-kind of format, but here we go:

Parameters to track every day, from 1-10:

  • Tiredness vs Focus
  • Coffee intake vs Energy
  • Eating habits vs Motivation
  • (Or all the above)

I guess the makerlog format would be useful for meds and activities you 'shipped' that day to help with one's mental health condition. The mood/focus/energy parameter tracking is more to complement the logs? Might be nice to see progress and things done on way to recovery!

Possibly getting off topic here, but Grapefruit (https://haveagrapefruit.com/) is a habit builder/tracker for mental health.

Ah it's done already. Nice. But grapefruit doesn't have a community around it, and public task logging. I wonder if that's something intentional…
