Ask ML: What do you think of the landing page for my side project?

Hey Makerloggers,

I've been building a new project in secret so far - a browser extension to remember which social login you used last time. The extension and the website are ready. I'm looking for some feedback on my landing page: Which Login - The browser extension reminding you!. As I'm not a designer please let kindness rule 🙏️ Still looking for real feedback 😅️

Thank you!

Definitely a useful product! I like the minimal design and how you frame the problem it solves. I think the sub header "A browser extension to remember which social login you used last time." Should be larger.

For me the "social" part of the solution resonates the most and should be larger. I'm not a designer though, so take it with a grain of salt!

Hey Ryan,

thanks for reply and checking the site. Highlighting 'social' sounds like an idea. I think the copy throughout the landing page needs a bit rework.

I was going to say that I kinda think "A browser extension to remember which social login you used last time," should be what's largest and boldest, and that the "Never forget which login you used again!" could be the smaller, secondary text. Just my split second reaction, because it would immediately contextualize and explain what someone has landed on with no ambiguity, and without them even needing to read the second line.

I also think that copy-wise, if nit-picking, "A browser extension that remembers which social login you used last time," might sound better. It remembers, it's so nifty and new and smart and handy and Jesus take the wheel I don't know how I last logged in.

…mind you it's also late and I'm nearly sick from eating cookies while watching a movie, so, take all that I say with a grain of salt…

Hey @alex,

good you having cookies, a men needs to have his priorities sorted! 🍪️

You are totally right about the secondary text should be "A browser extension that remembers which social login you used last time." - it sounds better (I'm doing English more by 'feeling' than actually knowledge of rules 😁️).

About the swapping of the two lines of text - I'll check it out and see if it feels good.

Thanks for your feedback!

Hey @ryanmilb and @alex

do you think the video should be a little more up to you see that there is more below straight away? This way it also encourages to scroll down.

I think it's okay where it is. I think the most important part is the text - and whether you hook someone in the first few seconds they're on the page. I always try to look at things through the eyes of someone who is old and irritable and doesn't want to have to think 😂

I’ve only seen it in mobile but looks good. I’d say that the red is a bit too bright but I think that’s the brand color that you chose right?

Are you using full black for the text?

Hello @fabiorosado,

thanks for checking it out! The red has been part of discussions for a few times. I might replace it with something softer.

The black is not 100%. It's #333333 - why?

Ah sorry @spekulatius

I was in a weird light and the font looked like 100% black but now that Im on my laptop i can see that its not haha. I was going to suggest not using 100% black.

I think if you want to use a white background it might be better to make that red a bit softer or perhaps change the background so it's not as white 🤔

Hi, I think the page is very clear, I have two suggestions:

  • For me its not entirely clear what the problem is that this plugin is solving (but I'm not using social login a lot). It might help to add one line like "Are you confused by all these buttons and find it hard to remember which one to press" or something like that
  • As Fabio is saying, I would make the red color a little less bright, it has poor contrast ratio with the background color, meaning that it's hard to read. Or not use it for the small text in the faq

Hey @roel,

yeah, its aimed at people using social media logins a lot. Without this it wouldn't make much sense to use it. Regarding the red: definitely something I'm checking out before I'm going live. Thinking of a more soft greenish ? #00AC9D
