Are plain text emails increasing response rate?
Yesterday I was writing an article about writing plain text emails instead of html emails to increase response rate. What is your opinion/experience on that?
Here is the little article: https://growthhacklist.com/methods/plain-text-emails
It depends on the type of email you send out.
I have really enjoyed receiving plain text emails from https://stronglifts.com as they feel more personal.
However if it's reminders or newsletters etc. Then best to style the end result (but always allow people to choose which format, e.g: Mailchimp allows this).
And to answer the response rate part:
People will respond better if you manage to convey a personal touch to your emails. Ergo fostering a real relationship with your customer instead of blasting out automated emails.
Yea, I agree, personal response is the key.
Maybe a mixture of both? Don't overload your email with graphics and fancy snazzy jazz all over the place, but keep it minimal and clean and friendly. Show yourself in the email by having just a sprinkle of aesthetic decoration.
Don't deliver someone a bunch of celery sticks, but don't deliver them a giant decked-out lava cake either. Just hand them over a plate of cookies… Know what I mean?
…i'm hungry now…
Yeah totally agree. I asked the question now in several communities like indiehackers etc. and mostly makers are in favor of plain text emails - i think there are of course use cases where it make sense to add fancy pics but speaking for myself I also like plain text emails more. I added all the answers so far to the article
