Show of your coding environment
Hey everyone,
I thought we should have a place where you can share your coding environment and maybe help others out with new apps. Please share your IDE/Text Editor and themes that you use.
I'll start:
Hardware:
- MacBook Pro 13inch 2013 (2.4GHz i5 DualCore, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD)

Hey Micah, how's the Surface Pro 4 handling the 4K output and using resource hungry apps like Adobe?
Hey Kevin, what do you think about Franz? I used Atom in the past, but it was so damn slow and then I switched to VSCode and that thing is really the most performance optimised Electron app out there.

Hardware:
MBP 2017 13in No touchbar Alienware Alpha 1st gen - don't remember specs ;)
Software:
Yasin, it does pretty well, full screen video is where it struggles a lot. There is also a weird issue where the screen will go black for a couple seconds and then come back. Happens mostly when watching videos, and other non-specific random times. I'm not sure if it's a dock issue, monitor issue or Surface issue. (Just writing this comment it has flashed about 4 times, which is more frequent than it usually does).
Other than that, I often run Photoshop, a couple instances of Visual Studio, multiple browsers, Slack, Skype, outlook, Onedrive and Onedrive for business all day long.
Next time I upgrade, I'll likely go with the latest version of Surface Book rather than a Surface Pro. I love the Surface Pro form factor but I spend 95% of my time at a desk so having the power of a Surface Book would be nice and I can still pop off the screen as a tablet if needed. And I'd like the larger screen on the Surface Book.
As I’m working at System administrator in Windows Domains i know the struggles with Windows 10 🤯(good that I‘m starting at a new job in mid March).
My (still) chef has a surface book and he also has some issues. And the Surface Book (maxed out) has a pretty strange keyboard. Some keys are not in the same height, two or so are like pressed on one side.
Hardware:
MacBook Pro 15inch Late 2013 — 2.3GHz i7 QuadCore // 16GB RAM // Dual Graphics (NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M and Intel Iris Pro) // 512GB SSD
An ultra crappy Asus MX 27" monitor
Apple keyboard
Logitech MX Master 2S (my precious, lotr kind)
Headphones (help focus, eliminating noise like my singing and street noise)
Software:
- macOS Mojave
- PHPStorm
- WebStorm (added recently for projects involving mainly JS)
- Sublime Text — I use it now just for occasional quick edits
- Notion
- Adobe CC suite
- Sketch
- Spotify
- Chrome
- Trello (phased out, but still have some projects archived)
- mostly Discord but also Slack and Telegram
