Would you use something like this?
Hey makers, I was working on this new desktop app - Makerdesk. A desktop application which consist of various different api's like Makerlog, 200wad, Spotify, Netlify, Google calendars etc so that you don't have to open various different tabs or other desktop apps do every little stuff. Does this sounds like something you may use? And if yes then can you suggest other api's that you would like to see.
Youtube for music!
I guess youtube would not aim specifically music but will include it.
Would probably never use. The less things open, the better.
That's the point of the application. that you don't open multiple application.
@zicsus True, but all the apps you listed are available in the browser, and if you're a frequent visitor to any of them you've most likely already bookmarked them, which makes it only 1 click away (Assuming your browser is already open)
It's not fixing the problem of having less applications open, because Makerlog, 200wad, Spotify, Netlify, Google calendars etc. are not applications, they're just another tab in a browser.
@tomaswoksepp Yeah, may be you're right. But I just thought that it would be nice to have a desktop client for any of those and by doing it with there api's I can strip down unnecessary UI and features. Lets take example to notes, I most of the time just want to write something down but notion and evernote have so many things showing up on the screen, It is just useless and makes you feel lost. Sometimes I think windows sticky notes are better than these apps but It is not organised. In conditions like this I guess Makerdesk can help you to speed up your workflow.
It reminds me of Station https://getstation.com/ but the problem is that the app is taking way too many resources. Keep that in mind, I'm often closing the app because of that 😂
Station went with this browser type approach. My intention is to only implement certain amount of apps with features that are useful. I don't want to load whole site.
