What does Personal Branding mean to YOU?
I'm seeing a lot of talk about personal branding recently. Curious about what it means to YOU and if/ how you are creating a personal brand.
Personal branding means a lot to me. I used to go by a nickname online, due to working in porn for years, but since leaving the industry, I switched to my real name and have been building up my own personal brand.
I think it has two components:
- People know who you are and can find you.
- People associate you with a thing like a product or a concept.
For indie devs, having a personal brand (and association with your product) can be very helpful in the sense that it literally puts a face on your product.
@kilian Agree with part 1. I struggle with part 2 since I do a few things.
I don't remember who said this but "being the one who knows more than anyone in a room on the subject of discussion" That will put you as a stamp on the mind of people in the room.
As I grew in my career, I realized that where I graduated and where I worked become less and less important than what I'm actually capable.
