Re-purpose blog

Have you ever been so focused on reaching a goal that you forgot to appreciate the journey along the way?

Maybe it's time to pause for a moment.

Back in 2017, I captured a beautiful sunset during my usual ride in my hometown of Cavite. At that time, I was already freelancing. I'd been meaning to publish this draft but kept forgetting. Recently, I stumbled upon the photo and some thoughts on my old Trello board.

The 2017 version of me wrote this line:

"On your way towards your goals, you might be rushing, trying to sprint as much as you can. STOP! You could be missing out on the best scenery along the way because you're in such a hurry."

Looking back, it's astonishing how driven (and sometimes lacking focus) I was, rushing towards my goals without pausing to enjoy the moment.

This reminds me of a video by Alan Watts, where he talks about the purpose of music. He said that the point of music isn't to reach a destination, but to enjoy the journey itself.

Here is the video:

The point of music is not to reach a destination, but to enjoy the journey. You don't play a symphony to reach the end. The point of the symphony is the music itself. Likewise, you don't dance your life away to arrive at the end. The point is dancing.

This photo serves as a reminder for me to pause and appreciate the journey – to take a break from rushing towards my goals and enjoy the present moment.
