As a maker or solopreneur, what are your biggest pain points?

Hi there👋, building side projects or even venturing out as a solopreneur can be difficult at times, so I was wondering:

As a maker or solopreneur, what are your biggest pain points?

That's a good question. I'd say growth is one of the most difficult parts of starting a new venture.

@sergio Thanks for it :) Indeed super difficult! Any tips for new joiners on how to learn more about creating growth (or what you did)?

As an ex solopreneur, the biggest pain point was sales/growth/marketing. I'm the tech guy and so struggled at the business aspects of the product.

@_UchennaOkafor Thanks for the quick reply! So more on how to get customers, pricing, marketing strategies. How did you try to solve this if I may ask :)?

@AlexBThomsen

Yeah pretty much, getting customers was defo a big pain point.

Also, I solved that problem by finding a co-founder. In my case, my co-founder found me, he takes care of the sales/business side of things while I take care of the product. Being a solopreneur is very hard and honestly, so much of the burden is lifted when you have someone else to help.

Sales, easily. It doesn’t come naturally to me, and is still very difficult.

@rcharpentier thanks for it! Did you bring in a co-founder or did you find other ways to try to overcome this?

@rcharpentier I understand sales can be extremely challenging at times. I have 4+ yrs of sales experience in tech. I'd be happy to have a conversation to discuss your sales process. Let me know if you need any help. Best regards! 🙏🏻

Sales/growth/obtaining users. I love the technical part and building things from the ground up. I'm not a big fan of marketing and things related to it.

@Brad_256 Hey Brad I understand sales/growth is a hard topic to enter when mainly focused on the product. I'm an Industrial Engineer and worked mostly as a Business Analyst and Banking before starting in sales and that transition was mega-hard for me. I mostly recommend books like Crossing the Chasm, triangle selling, sales enablement playbook, sales acceleration formula, and most importantly my sales bible… the challenger sale for B2B sales. I also help out businesses with their sales processes and founders during the weekend, if you're interested we can set up a meeting a see if I can be of any help.

A lot of relatable ideas here by other makers but the biggest one for me is the analysis paralysis which happens when(ever) you have a new idea. It literally at times can affect the mental health due to overthinking.
