What are your problems with Goodreads?

I'm working on an online reading club (https://joinpageturner.com) and am curious as to what problems people have with Goodreads, so that I am able to adress them in my product.

@bcye I mean. I dont wanna look for anything I am too lazy .. Maybe if I would fill just some information on the start. What genres I like, authors, and then I would just see one simple list with books to read. I don't need to see anything else … Just one list which would be automatically filled with books tailored for me.

I don't know if this is what you mean, but I find it too cluttered. There's too much information in one place. It functions extremely well though.

@efran sounds like my product solves that. It gives you a feed of quotes, opinions and summaries of the reading progress on different books by different people.

I actually agree. It's very complex as any amazon product. I'd love to have something more simple and fast (Goodreads is very slow sometimes). They are actually doing a good job with imdb.com right now so maybe they will make similar changes to goodreads as well.

I don't have much of a problem with Goodreads. Imho, the question is really "what will your product have that Goodreads doesn't have"? For example, you could put more emphasis on connecting with readers/authors.

Yeah the emphasis really is on connecting readers. When I tried out Goodreads once, I didn't understand how to use it or what it's actually useful, how I can connect with other readers. In my product, you have no way of not connecting, since you are greeted with a log created by users.
