What should I do to help my blog articles rank in Google?
Hey everyone 👋,
I've recently been working on a blog, with the intention of ranking content organically so that my product is more easily discoverable by Search Engines.
I've been writing articles which I feel target relevant keywords, and I've published them + signed up to Google Search Console, but what else can do I to get the maximum SEO benefit? Is it just a case of waiting for them to index?
Should I be posting them on external sites?
Creating a blog has been a massive learning curve for me. Any help is really appreciated!
Thanks :)
Indexing is quite fast by now. If you want to speed it up you can post the link of a new blog post into the search console & then manually send them to index.
If you don't have one already, make sure you have & submit a sitemap. That's the best way to make sure Google knows about your pages.
SEO requires a lot of patience. Especially in the beginning (of a website). One thing already mentioned is to look in the GSC for terms you are already ranking for. If you see keywords you are ranking for but not yet targeting with your content, expand the articles already ranking with more about the topic.
Also, make sure your content deserves to be ranked. It's hard to assess one's own content. But put yourself in the shoes of a potential customer / reader. Would you be happy with the information you read? If yes, great! If no, rewrite it. Make sure you cover the topic in its entirety. Add related information. Check what else fits the topic of the page. I wouldn't purely focus on keywords anymore, they should just be the starting point of a topic.
Finally you need patience. Posting a new piece of content on a relatively new blog, won't bring you visitors immediately. SEO takes time. Don't check rankings & keywords every day - that'll just make you feel bad.
