What are the needful ingredients for a great beta program?

I just failed my first beta launch, almost nobody have subscribed. I want to pivot my strategy. Any suggestion?

Hey Edoardo, what's your product and how are you doing the beta program (where are you promoting it, is it public or private, etc)?

Hi, I have published a landing page and promoted it on Twitter and Product Hunt. You can reach the landing page here: https://www.feriapp.it/

Thank you :)

@edoardobevilacqua So a couple of things: 1) The vast majority of people interested in a product aren't going to signup for beta access. It can make sense to have a private beta period if your product is in rough shape or if you need to manually onboard users, but I generally recommend skipping the whole private beta thing. 2) This is a really tough time for travel apps. People just aren't traveling right now. Not sure there's really any way around that 🤷‍♂️

@gabemake Thank you for your feedback! As for the first point we want to keep a closed and engaged community, that is why we want to keep it private. What do you think about it?

As for the second point I totally agree :(

@edoardobevilacqua If you can manage to get enough beta signups to create a closed and engaged community that's great! Just keep in mind that a lot of companies that are able to pull that off had a large existing audience to draw from. If you're having trouble, it's worth considering seeing what happens if you open it up and do another push.
