Have you hired virtual or executive assistants before?

How did it work out for you? Share your experience. What worked well, what didn't, what would you approach differently?

If you're looking to hire a VA or EA I would say do some upfront work and think about the why and how. Also, create shared SOP's.

Why. What is the main reason for you to hire the VA? (e.g. help with admin tasks, free up your time, etc.)

How.

  • Be specific in how you want the EA to work. (e.g. do particular tasks need to be completed in a particular way?)
  • Set limits and boundaries (e.g. if a customer complains about a $10 refund does the VA need to bother you about it)

My suggestion:

  • Hire someone you can trust and allow them to do their job. This becomes easier if you have documented what to do and how to do it. Before, hiring share this documentation with them and give them a reasonable time to review and ask questions.
