What do you think of this product idea & these features?

Hi guys,

I want to have your opinion on my product development ideas for Bipdash.

Quickly, Bipdash is a product allowing to do analytics and to quickly find relevant resources from the #buildinpublic Twitter data (not yet launched)

I'm thinking of including these features:

  • dashboard capability: count of tweets / total, hashtag, product, user with time granularity day/week / month, count of products, top 10 engaging profile, top mentioned profile, top mentioned product
  • search functionality: allowing to quickly browse tweets from a user, of a hashtag, related to a product and discover all contextual data (graph explorer) + search by topic (customer acquisition/building audience/building product etc… still have to define the topics)
  • Weekly email of curated tweets/profiles/products about #buildinpublic
  • Get recommended maker tweets given the questions you ask on Twitter

My motivations: I felt that it's hard to keep track of the shear volume of quality posts shared by builders on Twitter, I'd like to be able to find anytime the most valuable contributions from other makers which are the most relevant to me.

If you read until here, thank you :), please let me know if this is a pain point that talks to you and if those features are useful/useless/already done well by others.

Happy hacking guys!

I think this is quite sound. I also feel the same way: the #bip hashtag is quite noisy lately.

@sergio: good to know you share this opinion. I have found some twitter report tools per hashtag. They usually are pricy and it does not handle the qualitative parts (normal since it is generic)

Love this idea, curation of these types of things is great. I follow a lot of indie makers, but having some quality content I can laugh/learn/copy from is great.

Who is this focused at? Being able to find a lot of these details aren't overly important to me. I love what you're doing with the graph explorer (network diagrams are beautiful), but what problem is this solving?

Super excited to see what comes of this 🚀

@Mike_Miner thanks for the support!

Dashboard, curation of tweets or recommendations should be mainly for indie makers at all levels. If we take beginners, I can see how they would benefit by being able to quickly find say the "Guide to building in public" made by Kevon Cheung (bigup if you read this Kevon), or some curated list of indie maker communities, or tutorials etc… In that sense you get extensive/fast access to the right info you need while you're trying build in public.

The graph is more to allow you to check how you engaged with other builders through time. Not sure if I should keep it in the future, but something that can be fun checking sometimes.

@JohnitoChaos Super interesting way to connect these dots.

How many people in your target market have you spoken to about this already?

@Mike_Miner None for now. I plan to finish my landing page this week and start sharing on Twitter & Reddit. Not really strong on marketing products :/

@JohnitoChaos Just be careful - Speaking to potential users isn’t just about marketing, it’s about trying to narrow the scope about the problem you’re trying to solve. Otherwise, you run the risk of creating something which no one wants. Cold Twitter DMs and Reddit threads are great for this.

My DMs are open if you want a hand with the process
