I built a SaaS to take on Hey.com and Linktr.ee at once
Recently Hey by Basecamp has gathered lots of talk around it, everyone need it. Do they all actually need the kind of service they provide? Some do but not everyone.
But yes the @hey.com mail id is super cool, isn't it? If you want that then you would have to shed a minimum of 99USD, that's too much.
I Built Hie.Fyi to overcome the mail id anxiety, better service for less. Currently Hie.Fyi has 2 subscription, one for hosted profile page with an @hie.fyi mail id and other for just @hie.fyi mail id.
Do you know the best part? For just 49.99USD you can have you @hie.fyi mail id for lifetime. Also you can even use this with Gmail.
Isn't it cool?

I love your idea, mainly the "One Link" aspect of it. I've been talking with my wife about this -- about.me feels outdated and needs a successor. Maybe yours can be it. Won't speak to your pricing (if enough people use it, I'd probably buy in, but not now), but I think you're on to something.
Ours is bit different from about.me, we provide a complete white glove solution which means we manage everything, you just need to notify me.
I also understand the fact that indie businesses tends to go out very soon but I have developed it in such a way so that it can operate at extremely low cost. HieFyi is going to say alive for pretty long even if we don't get enough customers. Feel to have a look again.
Also the pricing in introductory will change after we gain traction but the price won't change for early adopters. Even in future the price would be significantly lower than about.me and Linktr.ee
I don't need to look again, I told you my opinion. You're on to something, but $20 is too much when the future of the product is uncertain.
@blakehunsicker the $20 fees is yearly, about.me is $6 monthly. Do you still think it's expensive?
@kaknut that's a good question. For me, it's too much. I'm not the average customer, though -- I like building my own sites.
I don't know if your idea to combine a universal profile page with email is going to catch on or not, but now you're competing with about.me/linktr.ee (and others), and with free/expensive email. I think you might lose a lot of customers to one or the other. A yearly charge is a large commitment. Maybe if you charge $2 or $3/month for your service you'll be more convincing, because it'll be easier to compare yourself with about.me and Hey, and it doesn't look so outrageous when compared with free email.
Do you have a demo of the email inbox on your site? I didn't see it.
@blakehunsicker We actually do have a monthly plan for $2.99, it's just not listed in the page (will add it tomorrow).
Actually we don't provide an inbox you can simply use our service to forward email or use Yahoo mail or Gmail for receiving and sending mails.
[Update] Keeping your suggestion in mind I did made monthly available on the website for everyone.
@blakehunsicker if you just need email forwarding then you need not do anything, it will be done from our end.
You would only have to bear the pain if you wish to send mail from @hie.fyi, receiving is easily managed.
