Graphic Designers for a flat monthly rate?
Many services that offer unlimited graphic designs for a flat monthly rate are one-person companies in which designers are providing their services (Couple of them contacted me to add their service on Flat Monthly Fee). As I am a UX / UI designer myself, and after Covid-19 I have more time for new projects (some of my contractors cut their marketing budgets, so they need me less). I made a new section on my website (https://flatmonthlyfee.co/freelance-designers/) and I wanted to check is there a demand for designers where you pay a monthly fee, and they can always send something them? It is like a hired person but only for a fraction of the budget.
The question is whether a Graphic Designer for a fixed monthly rate makes sense in this case? Are these companies want one "this" designer and not the entire company like Design Pickle etc that provides such services? What do you think?
Interesting idea, but I think it depends on the use case of the company.
The biggest issue that I see here is 'unlimited requests' which could could become an issue on both sides. Designers being overworked and companies who will then face longer wait times and lower quality designs as a result.
Either way I like the concept, for smaller bootstrapped businesses hiring an in-house designer is prohibitively expensive and the alternative of contracting will quickly add in costs also. This idea of paying a monthly retainer for a designer is a great short term solution to those issues and I'd definitely consider it in the future.
I know it can be hard with 'unlimited requests' feature but like I wrote, a couple of unlimited graphic design services are just one man army and they exist in this market. I think a designer can handle 1 or 2 company for fixed monthly fee and work on unlimited tasks. I don't know how companies look on it, they think there is a team behind these companies or they don't care if job is done.
