Delete Account Question for Retrospect.team

Right now we don't have a "Delete Account" option on https://www.retrospect.team, but it's something we need to include. I'm looking for some opinions though on how it should work from a data perspective…

Right now users can add "Cards" to a "Board" that they do not own. If someone decides to Delete their account, do we also need to remove their cards that they added to other people's boards? Do we need to show that a card was deleted?

If you reply on other services like Twitter and Facebook, they remove it right?

So seems like we should remove the cards everywhere no matter who's board it's on?

As far as I know deleting a Twitter account removes public content but doesn't remove private messages between people. Same with Facebook I think as I have seen old messages from profiles with no link/avatar just a greyed out name.

When you delete an account from G Suite as an admin you get the option to assign all data (emails, drive docs, etc.) to a different account. I wonder if something like that would be an option for you given the team-based nature?

That's interesting, hadn't considered private messages in those services. Each account currently is considered an individual account, we don't really have "Teams" yet (in the works). Handing cards off to someone else could be interesting.

I suppose the other option would be to have a checkbox on the delete page that says something like "Remove Cards I have added to Boards I don't own." Essentially leave it up to the user on how to deal with the cards.

@micahiverson That sounds like a good idea! 😄 I use a similar set-up on webwide.io where deleting an account could cause conversations to lose context.
