Any tips for a build-in-public noob?
Hey gang,
I'm just starting to build in public for the first time, and I'm quietly (not so quietly) very excited about it.
What are your tips for what to share, what not to share, how to communicate best, anything at all?

Share as much as possible. People love seeing the behind the scenes of stuff, definitely if it's really cool/interesting.
For what not to share, maybe keep a secret or two to add some surprise to users when they join your app/service/project.
Best places to communicate this are here on Makerlog, and your own Twitter with some hashtags i.e #buildinpublic
Hope this helps :)
You'll get a lot of feedback when sharing something visual, like a website screenshot, logo and just a simple diagram of your technical architecture. If you're afraid of people stealing your idea, just share small bits. Tease a little bit until you have an MVP, but definately don't wait until you have something 100% built. Good luck out there. Keep shipping 🛳
Share as much as you want and you are comfortable with. There are no rules as to what counts as building in public. Some people like to see stats & numbers. Other's hate seeing them because it creates pressure & stress.
The best advice is from @uf4no "dont' wait until X". You do not have to have a finished project before you can share stuff. This took me way longer to realize than it should have.
Instead start sharing your thoughts immediately. What are you working on this very moment? Are you thinking about a certain feature but not sure if or how you should do it? That's a great question to ask in the open! Trying a new technology, share your thoughts and troubles with it. Stuck? Ask others. Found a great domain? Are happy with the layout for a page? Have a shitty day because of bugs? All valid things to talk about.
I follow lots of makers and every day different things resonate with me. One day I draw motivation from somebody else launching. Another day, it helps reading about somebody struggling and knowing you are not alone.
I share most of my updates on Twitter, here on Makerlog & occasionally on indiehackers. If you are looking for positivity and feedback those are good places in general.
