Gumroad or Stripe? What's more suitable for a recurring-payment Saas?

Hey everyone 👋

I have been a product developer since last 5-6 years. Finally working with little steps to create tools and softwares in the form of SaaS.

As I finalise the stack, I was wondering which one of the two (Gumroad or Stripe) would be easier to scale, doesn't give too many hiccups in between.. as I believe some of the developers here would have already faced this dilemma?

I think Stripe is more established and definitely would scale better because its focus is payments where as Gumroad is more of a storefront.

There is also Paddle which is another good one.

@nblackburn Oh! I haven't heard of Paddle. Will check it out as well :)

I'm considering a switch to gumroad, as stripe doesn't handle invoices for one of payments very well.

I offer both monthly subscriptions and a lifetime subscription. While the lifetime is mostly bought by companies that want invoices, that's exactly the product that doesn't generate one. I'm also not able to generate one later, without creating a new sale.

@meijer_s Oh! That is definitely something to keep in mind. I had apprehensions with Gumroad due to it being a closed platform compared to Stripe allowing a more open development

I've heard Stripe is better.
