How do you manage terms and conditions of your products/services?

This is something I've struggled with for a while and don't exactly know how to do myself.

I see a lot of makers making things so I wondered what the community does when writing their product/service Terms and Services.

Do you write them yourself, or pay someone else to do it for you? Let me know 😄

I'm struggling with the same thing. Basecamp says people can steal/modify/tailor their policies with some attribution: https://github.com/basecamp/policies#steal-these-policies

I just might consider it should I run short on time.

@Mostdefkima3ff Sometimes you just want something up and running real quick and stuff like this seem the easiest, indeed!

When reaching the MVP stage -in general- I'd recommend using something like UpCounsel for the US.

Personally, for most of my projects I just use the most basic versions of TOS when starting out:

  • No abuse of our systems
  • No warranty; services as "AS-IS"
  • Reserving the right to modify at any time
  • Some data is User Generated and we cannot be held responsible
  • Etc, etc.

@Mostdefkima3ff I didn't know about Basecamp's policies before, very helpful to steal parts from for my own Terms & Conditions 😄

I use a service called iubenda. It can generate terms and conditions, GDPR docs, and privacy policies. It’s super easy to set up too.

My lawyer friends will recommend some boilerplate language to start with. There are quite a bit available on the internet either true boilerplate or ones you can revise from other companies. As pointed out below, there are plenty of companies that you can draw a initial draft from.
