  1. I wouldn't say it's a community, I picture discussions as a critical piece to making something a community.
  2. It's sort of a newsletter, but from first glance I'm not sure what "Build an email Lyst" involves..
  3. I would not say it's a branding service.
  4. It's an aggregation tool from what I can tell.

Your cards are a bit confusing…

  1. You have a profile image of the owner, next to the "Follow" button, so am I following the user or the list if I click that button?
  2. The icons mean nothing to a user at first glance, there is no tool tip on them and I have no idea what they mean. It's just a distraction.
  3. They look more like "articles" rather than "lists".
  4. Your list title and the author are the same color, make the title larger, author smaller and a lighter color. Remove the icons, make the author image smaller and maybe top left corner of the list image or move the author image and author name to the bottom of the card.
  5. Maybe put the follow button with the title rather than in the image area? Doesn't work well if you have a long title though.
  6. Work on your padding/spacing, especially top/bottom

  1. I wouldn't say it's a community yet, because discussions is a big part of it.
  2. It's sort of like a newsletter for products.
  3. Not clear on how it's a branding service or how I can build a brand from curating links. I think that can be made much clearer.
  4. I think the lists are like collections in Product Hunt but it can be for any content not just products. You can have your own collections, PH makes collections and there are lists of products based on questions from the community (I feel this is missing in LystOf for it to be a community).

Other feedback:

  1. The cards have multiple actions - opens list, opens user profile, follow user. This is a bit confusing.
  2. I liked some of the content like Naval's talks, design thinking. A little context/description in the list page and for the links would make it much better.
  3. The categories can be improved. For example, there is a tech category, a software category and a react.js category. I'm not clear on why they are different or why they are not nested.

  • What do you think lystof is about?

  • Is it a community? Maybe. I got a slight impression that there is a community aspect involved. Being able to comment under each link would be nice. I noticed the upvote feature which I think is very helpful for the curator to know what their audience responds to the most.

  • Is it a newsletter curation service? Yes. I didn't get strong vibes of the fact that these are actual newsletters at first, but after exploring a bit I understood that's what's going on.

  • Is it a website to build your brand/page? Maybe. Using Lystof to create your own newsletter around your brand would probably help build your brand. Basically, Lystof could help build your brand if you use it wisely in that way. Just another tool to help manage your online presence.

  • What other services/communities/tools do you think are competitors for it? I certainly haven't come across anything quite like this before. Closest I can think of is the likes of MailChimp and what not. But I think having Lystof focus on "link-curation" more heavily than general newsletter stuff like MailChimp does, will really help it stand out. If you build a browser extension to allow collecting and adding links that much more quicker & easier, this could be a really solid product!

  • Would you like to build your brand on lystof?

  • If yes, on what themes would you like to create it? Yea, maybe. I can see myself playing around with curating links for various topics. In terms of my specific brand… I guess I would build it on a theme most closely associated to "web content"? Like, general purpose websites, web apps, new tech, new code stuff, things like that. A bit broad, I know lol sorry ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • How easy do you feel, it is to build your brand? Is there any service which can build your brand more easily? Building a brand can be pretty tough. Twitter is pretty decent at quickly reaching out to your users, so maybe Lystof can be used to quickly update your users on the major news that's been going on with your brand? Updates, new blog posts, funny tweets, whatever…

  • Do you feel that you can build a significant brand using it? If no, what other customizations you feel are required? Right now, in it's current stage, I'm not too sure about building a significant brand. I think allowing for more theme-customization [ as in, choosing different colors for the newsletter page, different layouts, different styling to text and stuff like that ] can help. Just anything that makes the user feel less like their reading a Lystof newsletter, and more like their reading a "insert-your-brand-here" newsletter. Know what I mean? Basically, you almost have to build Lystof to get out of the way if you choose to go the "build a significant brand using our platform" route.

  • Would you like to recommend it to other people? Yeah, for sure. I think you got a cool idea here!

  • What do you think about the content? So far it's a little bare. That's to be expected though. Will keep my eyes on it to see how it progresses :^)

  • What was that one thing which glued you to lystof, if any? So far, not much. However, I know that in the future, if more content comes on the platform, I'll probably be glued to just browsing through endless ~~lists~~ lysts and reading what other people are curating [ especially in niche fields that I wanna browse around in and check out for an hour or two ].

  • One thing which you felt should be immediately changed? The overall design of the homepage feels a little lackluster. The actual newsletter pages feel fine, but the main landing page just kinda feels off to me. I don't know what it is exactly, but it doesn't look quite polished.

So far, so good! Keep up the awesome work dude, I'm excited to follow along with your updates. I hope you manage to make a bajillion dollars with this, good luck with the development! 👍 :^)
