What are some essential maker reads?

I think there's a couple of essential maker reads:

  • The Lean Startup: the entire maker movement is based on it.
  • Business Model Generation: it's generally a pretty useful book for figuring out how to monetize something!
  • Hooked: if you're building a habit-based book, this is a must.
  • Essentialism: do you struggle with trying to do too much at once? This is your book.

What are some essentials I missed? Discuss.

"Traction: how any startup can achieve explosive customer" was a real eye opener for me. For me, it felt like finally opening that magic box of Pandora of marketing, just to realize that there's no magic at all πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ like with everything when you finally get out of your comfort zone

"Essentialism" sounds like a book I should definitely give a shot!

@scriptifyjs Oh man, Traction's on my to-read list! I really want to start reading it after Hooked.

I came here just to mention Traction.

Also - "Obviously Awesome" by April Dunford. Just the first few chapters of April's book should solve the maker dilemma of "oh big company launched same thing". TL;DR: There are many ways to sell the same product. I haven't launched. But I'm in the same boat right now and the book did give me that hope.

So I'll come back in a few months and let everyone know if what i'm doing worked πŸ˜€

Here is my list

  • Croosing the chasm - Geoffrey Moore : Great book if you are building something disruptive that hasn't really catch on with mainstream consumers. I've read this while i was working in a blockchain project and as in my home country which isn't famous for embracing change and the insights you get are great for this types of markets
  • The lean startup - Eric Ries: There isn't a lot that i can say about this book that hasn't been said or discused already , imo it's a must read for everyone who has ever wanted to build build something
  • Blitzscaling - Reid Hoffman: Great examples but i would go with the podcast because it's more condensed and is like listening to an audiobook
