Hello everyone🙌 Newbie here

Today is my first time of using the platform. I'm navigating my way, it's pretty easy so far and a bit confusing (because markdown link sometimes doesn't work for me).

Any guide on leveraging this platform?

I've posted what I'm working on this month, added a task. What am I missing?

Thank you

So I'm noticing:

  • markdown links only work on discussions. Hashtags doesn't.
  • markdown links doesn't work on tasks but hashtags does

@ToheebDotCom Hey 👋, if you click your avatar at the top and "Send Feedback" then @sergio (the developer) will get them and might be able to implement your suggestions.

@nblackburn thanks for the insight.

I will hold on a bit to be familiar with the platform because right now I'm not sure if I'm the one who hasn't gotten the logic yet.

Would definitely use your suggestion soon. Thanks Thanks a lot 🙌🙌

@ToheebDotCom In the case of the things you mentioned, it's something others have noticed (myself and @lori being among them) so it's worth sharing as it adds weight to making changes to improve the platform.

@nblackburn What is "Patron" next to your avatar?

Welcome. Just share and praise, don't overthink it, you'll get a lot by just doing these without trying to know everything about the platform. The support you get here never ceases to amaze me.

@sowenjub I second this.

The best bit of this platform is that you don't have to overthink anything.

Just post a task you've completed, or are doing, praise people's work you find interesting and go about your day. 😀

First things first: welcome 🙌

Showing up on Makerlog ist mostly about consistency for me. I log my tasks, check the feed. Discover new makers & products. And whenever I feel like I can add something to a discussion I do so.

The biggest value to me is that you don't have to pretend here. There's no need for a "fake it till you make it" mindset, because the community is exceptionally nice & helpful.

It's not about posting philosophic quotes and vanity metrics. But about having a great community that shows support.

For me it means logging my tasks in silence & every now and then jumping into the discussions.

The hashtags are used to attach the different log entries to your products. So, if you have one or multiple products you can quickly "assign" the logged tasks to a product with the respective hashtag. This gives you a nice log of all the little things you did that created the product.

@scholz Thank you so much. I think I'll blend in nicely.

I'm not a man of many words, and talks about post 10 times per day kinda irk me.

I can just be me, try out a couple of stuff I'd like to work on, get feedbacks if any and continue the journey.

Thank you once again. Your reply goes a long way🙌

@scholz +1 everything Felix said, especially the bit about being the most warm, unpretentious community you'll come across :)

Keep shipping (happily) !

Welcome to the makerplace!

You haven't missed anything. We are all just sharing what we are working on and building, encouraging, and following along on the journey.

Looking forward to seeing what you are building too.

On the markdown, you can use that in discussions.

Tasks you can use the hashtags, they are mostly for tracking the different projects you are building though, see https://getmakerlog.com/products, you can add products and give them hashtags.

@jamesmkenny

Oh yes. I guess I'm on the right track. I've been able to add a product. Assigned it an hashtag.

The problem I had here is that: when I used the hashtag, it wasn't rendered as a clickable link like I've seen others.

I don't know if I missed something along the line

@ToheebDotCom Try using the hashtag in the task name, that's generally where we put it.
