Need help: best place to host video for streaming?

Hi makers👋

For #quicktalks I need to host video files somewhere and and I'm not sure which is the best place. I've been thinking about AWS S3 or Cloudinary and I'm not sure if there is any better alternative. I'll be streaming the videos to authenticated users only, which ruled out just uploading them to youtube, vimeo etc.

Thanks!

Take a look at Cloudflare Streaming, not used it but it looks promising and have confidence in the company.

I believe Vimeo lets you do private videos.

Pre-YouTube days, we hosted videos on our "paywalled" website. But quickly discovered that some users were downloading and re-uploading videos without our knowledge and consent.

Not directly contributing to your question, but something to keep in mind as you're building it up.

@FaizMetronome yeah, that's something I still have to figure out but thanks for the heads up 🤙

Check out Mux, which is similar to the solution Cloudflare offers. If you are already using AWS, have a look at the Amazon Elastic Transcoder, which is a bit more complicated to set up, but definitely cheaper.
