Looking for feedback on an idea

A site where you can submit one-to-one questions along with a donation amount of what you think that answer is worth. Donation will go to the answerer.

If a person receive a question, he have 48h to answer it, else the question is dropped and asker won't be charged.

People can asks things to makers, designers, etc… and pay them for their time!

This along with other features:

  • Browse directory of influencers
  • Reputation system
  • Ability to embed the question form on your own site
  • etc.

Whatcha thing about that? 🤔

I saw this idea recently on Twitter - i think it's genius. An ask.fm where the user will be paid for answers?

SOLD.

The idea is great, the implementation might be tricky. It's a chicken and egg problem. You need answerers to answer questions but they'll only join if they are people paying and people will only pay if there are enough answerers.

It's a little easier (but still difficult) if you try to build this for a niche and take a step back. Example: Quora for UI/UX. Start out with a niche Quora, get the traffic (populate the market) and then introduce payments. Easier said than done.

It's a great idea, has the potential to be huge but it requires a lot of work to get to Product Market fit.

@goodguyshun Agree that user onboarding is probably the hardest part. Maybe give the possibility for answerers to answer for free to build their reputation? Also, askers could decide of Q/A visibility (make it public) so other users can benefit!

Do you mean smth like Masmic?

Masmic's mission is to give everyone across the world a power to monetise their ideas, knowledge and attention, or crowdsource these from global community of users. On Masmic, anyone can get a query solved in a timely manner by incentivizing crowdsourced collaboration. By creating a micro-gig economy, the platform will open up a new innovative way for users to earn passive income online. Currently, there's no way for global users to collaborate online for micropayments. Masmic will make this possible!

if someone wants to use this, i'm not sure if it's already completely public. if not, here's a reg link, with referral from me: Masmic

@wassim oh, you're sending someone a message? For example, you want to know arnold's trainings plan? and you're gonna put $50 or something on that question and only arnold can anweser it?

@dehenne yup. One-to-one Q/A. Example: you ask your favorite maker, designer, developer, whatever, a private or public question and donate him whatever amount you think is worth his time. Answerer then have the right to pick or decline your question.

@wassim interesting concept. 🤔 If you can get some influencers, this could get pretty interesting.

What you got here is a hen egg problem. I don't know if the phrase exists in English. That means so much that you need both parties to make it work. A doesn't come without B and B doesn't come without A.

With some investment, e.g. that the platform asks the first questions … then it could work.
