I have a dormant project that I spent time working on last year.

It was shelved because it involved a lot of data processing, seemed hard to monetize, and became a labour of love.

Arvid Kahl’s podcast & book inspired me to take another look. The key factor is that it’s in a niche — paragliding — one I have expertise.

I think it might be possible to harness the community to crowdsource the data processing to a degree. It would require some gamification but could work.

I’d build a free tool that makes a social graphic of someone’s flight, like Strava does for activities posted on their platform.

This would bring pilots to the website and lead to mailing list subscriptions, registrations, or other valuable actions.

It requires more planning + investigation but I’m excited to see where it goes!
