Where to find frustrated customers of any service/product?

I phrased the title question broadly so that we can all benefit from the ideas and suggestions. But for me specifically, I'm looking for the best ways to find frustrated Wordpress site owners ready to switch (to something else, anything)? Where do they hang out?

Knowing where to find them is the first step to establishing a scalable way to find leads, and I'm keen to find these group of customers and offer them another better solution (static JAMstack sites).

Someone suggested I check out the Wordpress.org forum to find users leaving feedback and reviews. That's one good way.

Another other ideas and suggestions on where to find frustrated Wordpress users?

I've tried using Twitter for this but it didn't work well, there was a lot of noise.

Maybe targeted ads on Facebook / LinkedIn with a link to the survey?

Or check some business / marketing focused Facebook Groups or Slack communities (online geniuses for example), or other forums like warrior forum.

thanks! Ads is something I considered though might be pricey.

Not heard of online genuises or warrior forum? Are those WP communities?

@jasonleow these are marketing communities. Wasn't sure if you were targeting wordpress owners or wordpress devs.

I have friends who use these communities and they always say they look for tools and solutions that would increase their income. For JAMstack sites - it's cheaper hosting and faster speeds, so might be a good selling point.

@gera oh nice suggestions. Definitely not something I thought I should try. Added plus point is I can learn more about marketing! Thanks man, appreciate it.

I think there might be a difference between frustrated customers and just customers. In the case of WP there are probably alot of frustrated users but they don't know there is a better way.

I think if you can find any place that these users hang out and provide good value then you could build a good reputation there.

I would be careful going after "Frustrated" users on the internet. Alot of those could just be frustrated in general so it wouldn't matter what they used. They could also be the totally wrong people to be getting into JAMStack, alot of support time needed.

I would go for the marketing 101 approach provide value and show there are better ways and better alternatives.

Thanks James. Interesting point about frustrated users. Not thought about it that way, and only understand half of it… was this coming from your own personal experience? If you could share an example, it'll be really helpful… appreciate it :)

@jasonleow Some of it is from experience, some of it just reading what other people are doing and finding.

Keep in mind that Wordpress is the ultimate JAMStack platform, you add plugins to make it do things instead of coding it.

If a user is frustrated by using plugins to build a web app that might not be a good set of users to go after especially for something that is JAMStack based.

@jamesmkenny yeah true, so far am not targeting those building web apps or any site needs to be dynamic. Targeting business owners who have a 'business card' website, just need static text and images, don't need or want regular updates - where WP is likely overfeatured for their needs.

Hey man, saw this on Twitter but I answered specifically for Wordpress. Honestly best convos and conversions I usually get from direct mailing BUT a big BUT here… you need to make sure the person is a relevant stakeholder to approach or is it relevant to him. If you email a blogger but he is on webflow he/she won't give you their time. I think overall just cold email relevancy trumps all. How to find them? I might also start with some forums & communities on Facebook / Telegram.

Yes good point. Someone on IH suggested finding these folks based on the outdated Wordpress version or plugin they are using. And you're right, have to find the person who's making the decision about what tech he/they would use, else no point.
