What Music/Playlist are you listening to whilst coding?
I went from LocoRoco soundtrack (taking me back to my youth playing the game on PSP) and now I'm on Beethoven.
What are you listening to?
Many things! From rock, to rap, to indie and ambiant/shoegaze/experimental stuffs. Music is what gives me back my soul while coding (yea can be a bit dehumanizing to overthinking algorithm/interface/framework etc… especially while looooong debugging)
Reeeally depends on my mood and how much I have to concentrate.
Most common are
- (punk)rock - everyday stuff
- 90s techno / EDM - to get hyped
- classical - when I need to concentrate or learn (can't have lyrics then)
- Austropop (local pop music) - to relax
If you're interested I'm posting daily one album with a link to listen while coding on this twitter thread https://twitter.com/_JonathanBarone/status/1374736010936950787?s=20
Dub Techno or Liquid Drum and Bass without Vocals
Aaand combine all of that with Soundescape (maybe a little biased here 😉)
I listened to so much Synthwave when I code that I got annoyed having to go to youtube every time I wanted to listen to it. I built a chrome extension that can handle my playlists and open up for me in another tab.
Synthplayer <- if you wanna check it out
After watching The Queen's Gambit 👑 on Netflix, 7 episodes https://www.netflix.com/browse?jbv=80234304 I got emotional because it reflects the journey of my life for some part of it.
This playlist is so special to me right now as I'm doing some deep focus: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0n0EGxGTqEjxFTt2Ew9uLo?si=oWNnpP1YRFGdVYiHH9V2Lw

- celestron telescope i own to see the planets
- bicycle, i cycle around my country
- printing t-shirts & started graphic design then start web designing then now learning about saas and web-development
- i learn martial arts for 7 years and play for national team for a while
- i learn to play field hockey and play for national team for a while
- i learn how to build 100 people in the community when i was 17 years old and got awarded young youth leader.
- i played in the punk rock, hardcore, metal, indie band, learn to make music, got interested in production from video recording, editing and producing videos online
I use to have an mp3 player, all my punk rock songs in there but it got stolen. Then i bought a PSP player, someone also stole my device. Then i bought apple ipod mini 1st gen i have so many audio/video files. But after many years of listening stuffs on youtube, i decided to use Spotify. Spotify you can create playlist easily and search for the song on the go via your mobile and laptop. So need wifi everywhere to listen when I'm on the go using my airpods prod riding the bus, train, cafe and other places.
Mood is something i take care of everyday, so music helps me in many ways. It gets me done little tiny things from tidy up, laundry, cooking, eating, work on laptop, making someone smile and helping people when they need help and it improves my mood.
