Ideation for 🇵🇭

Hey Makerlog! It's Nikki, a Filipino product designer/psychology student with a new side project idea: An online knowledge base of indigenous psych concepts, instruments, and methods.

Ever since I got into UX, I've questioned how our research methods are often impersonal and mere replications of Western processes. Has my work really been user-centric or white-industrialized-user-centric? 🤔

To address that nagging thought, I'm hoping to collate research methods rooted in Filipino thought, culture, and experience into a Notion knowledge base. Beyond libraries of paywalled journal articles, I think we need resources that are geared towards the casual psych enthusiast, or towards anyone in the Philippines hoping to conduct social science research with local frames of reference.

I'm curious to know if there are any sites, wikis, or knowledge bases you check out for psychology insights. (Some inspirations I have right now are growth.design and nobaproject.com!)

-> Shipped!

My blog is finally up <3 I ended up using Notion x Super instead of Webflow bc the former makes a comfy CMS! I bought a new domain too to avoid name confusion—it's now nikkidatlangin.com :)

Feel free to reach out with thoughts or feedback! I'll be writing about design, technology, personal development, and philosophy.

I have to say, that on https://nicoledatlangin.com/ CSS looks broken for me (there seems to be a lot of 404 errors in the dev console, and the site looks like plain HTML with no styling).

MVP Home and Blog pages for

Learned about Webflow's CMS features and worked with dummy content to create the layout for my blog page! I also added the 'under construction' banner to the home screen, which I'll be showing on all the pages I have yet to create.

ready to start scaling this up for larger screens and work on it in Webflow!

it's the third page from the left! shows a select few of my design and writing work, plus some testimonials I'm hoping to showcase from colleagues :)

Started redesigning personal website

I'm migrating my website (nicoledatlangin.com) to Webflow! Super excited to get this new design in and ship by the end of the month 💖 I'm planning for it to be a one-stop-shop for my online works—UX/UI case studies, my blog, works in progress, etc.

Landing Page (Desktop View)

The landing page is now complete with all its sections! It looks fine on big screens, but not so great on tablet and mobile. Learned a very important lesson about adopting a mobile-first approach while I'm still starting out.

Finished 5th Part of Webflow Course (on Typography)

Also downloaded Spline to try out designing 3D for web experiences!

Would love to hear if anyone knows of great resources for 3D illustration :)

Started Webflow Course + Worked on Landing Page 🖥

Watched until the advanced button styling video, then started transferring this design for my internship from Figma to Webflow

Set goals for 2021

Hey! I'm Nikki and I'm a psychology student and budding designer. Trying out building in public as I learn no-code tools in 2021 and navigate my first design internships 🤩 First things first: Open goals for the month of January:

https://www.notion.so/nikkidatlangin/2021-Open-Goals-3dea77ea7da64b2dbd299398d3ac0e6c

Main design goals are (1) learning webflow fundamentals with their online university and (2) reading up on UX writing, which will be a huge part of my upcoming internship. Hit me up with book recommendations or just to say hi!

Welcome 👋, look forward to seeing what you build.
