Scrap the grant application

I've been wrapping my head around the whole thing. Primarily I wanted to use it to build the archive for Paraffin but if I do this, the archive must be made available online for free. I have nothing against that but I am trying to make money after all because there are costs. There isn't another thing I have thought of that could fit into the guidelines of the grant, they frown upon journalism and that's all Paraffin is. I'll look for something else but I am a little bit discouraged 😞

By what they defined it under their webinar my stuff fell into journalism because I'm technically reporting and distributing information on what is going on today. They want more of an academic approach and they rather focus on the past than the present, it's a tough one, which is why I thought of using the archive for it but if I were to do that I wouldn't be able to monetize it.

"they frown upon journalism" - what sorts do they approve? maybe we can brainstorm on how to make Paraffin fit into those guidelines

Mostly because Creating a catalogue, which is what the archive is, is something they like. But for the amount of money they offer isn't really worth it, they also don't cover travel or equipment, which is needed for it. They'll cover software and other technical stuff but that really isn't the problem I'm having. I need the travel and equipment to do it right

what's the difference between "content / information site" and "journalism"?

Anything information wise that can be shared for free but not journalism. I don't really have any other ideas I could fit Paraffin in that context
