Depends on the subreddit! Each one has their own rules for self promotion. In general, though, I would say that relevant comments plugging your product are far less likely to result in any automoderation or ban.

If you provide a helpful comment on a popular post you will probably see more traffic than self promoting and getting little engagement on a post. But really was just suggesting a way to see less auto mod takedowns/bans.
