Chicken and egg problems to think about

Backstory, in case you want to do this too:
I was asked to divide 100 points of "importance" into 5 buckets
- Relationship
- Family
- Friends
- Work
- Health

After giving my answer, I was asked:
You have 100 units of time, energy, effort. How do you typically divide it across those 5 buckets?

Finally shipped... a non-monetisable thing!

Hey Makerlog Family,

Happy Valentine's day! First time shipping something for me today, and it's to spread some love. It's 100% totally free, no signup, no paywall.

As a solopreneur I struggle to keep what's most important (family, relationship, friends) upfront and I suspect you'd all resonate with this - I created an app to fix it! 😅

Essentially this lets you create anniversaries for yourself just with a few clicks.
Some fun ones for you to try:
- first time meeting my gf (3 million minutes since)
- parent's anniversary (333,333 hours)
- birth date (Like me, you might be approaching 1,000,000,000 seconds old)

I hope you all have lovely days and have a good time today - relationship, or not ❤

PS I'd really appreciate a like & share - it's free so hopefully, more people can occasionally be reminded of the important people in their lives in today's world 🙂

Posted again - waiting till end Feb to adjust plan

Posted substack / linkedin

Kinda just reflecting on some reasons why regular posting & building an audience is key.

I write about Kage Bunshin so probably not the most professional impression...

Most importantly I'm relying on all the support I can get - outsourced motivation & effort
1) In 2017 I ran an ultramarathon (100km). I hated it, but people already donated money to the charities I was raising money for. Therefore I had to finish.

2) In 2019 I ran another ultramarathon (160km). I hated it, but people already donated money to the charities I was raising money for. Therefore I had to finish.

3) In 2023 I mentioned building a startup. It was difficult but lovely people (thank you) already supported me and are watching. Therefore… maybe??

Impeccable logic 11/10. Pictured is me enjoying myself building a startup.

Substack post about outsourcing of efforts

Some self-analysis written up on my fear of shipping, and a commitment to continue pushing through

Hi Makerlog community - I wrote a short post about my hesitation shipping. Oversharing in case it's helpful for you, or it's a blind spot (it was for me).

I am seriously new to this so I don't dare present myself as "knowing something" or as an expert. Again sharing in a stream of consciousness just in case this helps someone like me.

Not to project but hopefully this helps:
- I find it easy to update on makerlog and twitter and substack - I have no following, I don't know any of you
- it was absolutely terrifying (lame, perhaps but that's how I felt) to post on LinkedIn where it was a world that already knew me, and I have friends and colleagues there

It's worth considering:
- will you publicise your work more to people you know?
- if not, why?

Made first post on medium and linkedin

Early on in my writing journey, I've found that it's not the writing that's difficult but rather taking the leap in sharing what I've written.

I'd written a post but suddenly felt almost... scared before I clicked "post". It helps me understand why "not shipping early enough" is one of the more common reasons for startup failure, and I'm keen to work through this hurdle now that I'm conscious of it.

Gif of chart - explaining why I stop

It's fun at the start, and I like having fun

Committing to a substack post every weekday in Feb

I realised I've got a tendency to stop working on things just before they get useful. I drew a chart and saw clearly how I stopped myself from adding value.

On reflection, it's something I almost always do, and so for at least February, I'm going to practice sticking to something.
