🍻 a good night out with a good friend, good conversation, good vibes... does wonders for the soul

πŸ€– learn about FB ads, ad sets, horizontal/ vertical scaling, CBOs, retargeting, lookalike audiences, using rules to automate ads, etc.

πŸ€– learn what does and does not get copied over when using the 'Upload theme' and 'Import products' functions

πŸ›€ learn Rails (8%): From zero to deploy

Peeked into the the Rails deployment ecosystem, i.e. shared hosts/VPSes, full-service deployment co's, cloud deployment services, etc.

Had a nice Heroku refresher, learned some new commands, and deployed test app to production environment.

Bonus: discovered (on my own!) that Heroku has a setting that allows us to link our GitHub repo as a deployment method, et voila! Reduces two commands to one `$ πšπš’πš πš™πšžπšœπš‘`. Less typing, more shipping! πŸ”₯

πŸ— remove all FontAwesome files, replace with selected IcoMoon font icons

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’» learn Rails (6%): From zero to deploy

A better guide to the MVC architectural pattern than the one I'd learnt before -- and finally a lightbulb switched on as to why "Model" is named as such! Duh!πŸ’‘ (i'm dumb)

Got the traditional "hello, world!" test page working (although, i personally tend to default to "hello darkness..." πŸ¦‡)

There was also a nice Git refresher in today's lessons.

πŸ€– more documentation reading on manual fulfilment, cloning themes, and importing/exporting products from one store to another

⬣ Day 5: progress is slow but! TIL how to download just the few font icons needed instead of the whole fontawesome library

πŸ›  tool: IcoMoon App https://icomoon.io/app/

πŸ“„ full instructions: "Optimize Font Awesome to ridiculously low size of 10KB!" https://blog.webjeda.com/optimize-fontawesome/#the-easy-way

Done in this task:
βœ… Add font icons selectively.
βœ… Add one more project placeholder to make it 4 from 3.
βœ… Change first row divs ratio from 70-30 to 85-15.

Haven't been working out consistently since July. Reason? Not sure, honestly.

Today I did 2 sets of each exercise instead of the usual 3 to slowly ease back into momentum and not stress myself out unnecessarily.

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’» learn Ruby on Rails (3%)

Installing Rails itself wasn't as straightforward, which is weird because I've installed and built a working Rails app 3-4 years ago on the same damn laptop!?!

Then there were issues with Yarn, which involved `nvm`, and something to do with node and npm etc etc. Anyways, nothing a little Technical Sophisticationβ„’ (*cough*hoursofgoogling*cough*) couldn't resolve.

iTerm now launches with a lovely welcome message of `env: node: No such file or directory` but other than that, everything still works so I'm just going to back away slowly and not touch anything for now.

But I'm still feeling happy! And excited!
