What are you building this month? [September 2020]
So what are your plans for this month? Taking time off from working or business as usual? Continuing building and growing your current projects or starting something new? Still deciding what to do?
Reply below 👇 (and don't be chintzy with the details 😉)
I will keep working on my podcast publishing platform.
This month I'm focusing on development since I have some people who want to join but I don't have the features they need.
The two big items will be
- analytics
- integrating podcastpage.io
Also I will be improving the UI/UX in general.
The goal is to be able to focus on sales and marketing next month.
I'm going to start building the backend, REST API, and other Pythonic stuff of our (me and @stevenjselcuk) new iOS app.
I want to use Django and MongoDB but these two not working well with the latest versions so I'm trying to find a stable solution (I'm open to ideas from experienced ones). So it could be a Django or Flask API, not sure yet.
There is no time off for us 😅😑
@wasabigeek Because we need a very dense and complex database. Therefore, keeping data as JSON would be much more efficient for our project.
@hevalhazalkurt Yeah! You can get everything you need from Mongo out of Postgres, and if ever you did need to do relational stuff, you can easily migrate over. There are definitely times and places for Mongo, but they're very specific.
👉 New React Native package (already done)
🚀Anlat Bakalım launching (word guessing game for iOS) but there are some works that should be done.
✍🏻 PenClip (Sketching app for iOS) improvements. App Store & marketing works 😢
🎉 An iOS app (stealth mode for now) prototype & alpha release. It's a long shot but💪 I need to try.
🐈 Tabby Cat, LLC ( our firm with @hevalhazalkurt ) some branding works should be done. You know invoice templates, bank stuff, etc.
The boss is not pleased with your performance!
BTW: do you know this guy: https://www.businesscatcomic.com/ ?
@doomhammer Yes probably she is, she's the grumpiest cat in the world 😅 We didn't know the comics but looks amazing!
Shipping and iterating on my app, CoffeeTime! CoffeeTime lets users have spontaneous audio calls with their coworkers.
I'm building CoffeeTime because 1) I wanted a better way to stay in touch with my coworkers that wasn't another Zoom happy hour, and 2) I much prefer audio calls, since I can go outside, walk around, or grab a cup of coffee. Video calls force my eyes to be glued to the screen for yet another 30 minutes, which these days is just too much…
In the past few weeks, I've learned SwiftUI to implement a working prototype. I plan to use the next few days to test and iterate with some beta users.
We use a Slack plugin called Donut, and it's great, but could use improvements!! I'm interested to see how this goes!
Cool idea. If the app automatically suggests matches as someone is having a break I'd use it for friends also. I have my focus hours and other times I maybe want to have a 30mib break from the screen and sit on a couch or go for a walk. It would be great to know someone, who I can call at this time. Without calling many to find out they're in the middle of something and interrupting them. Of course, you can do all this scheduling with Calendly and this works best in busy times. But it feels more relaxed, if you just have a spontaneous call without an agenda.
I am transforming my demo project Textwok into a larger product that will be called Contentwok. I am still unclear where this journey takes me but I want to try to figure out how to help content creators to make better content faster.
🚀 LAAAUNCH!
At least the beta, anyway.
In August, I completed the subscriptions feature for Nodewood, which was the final feature I needed before there was value sufficient to start the paid beta. At this point, from the moment you install Nodewood, you get an app skeleton that provides user registration/management, subscriptions, an admin panel, and you can reasonably be expected to start building your app from there. I have a long list of possible new features, but I'll source which ones to work on first from paying users, starting with beta users.
In the near term, I'm working on a video showing off how subscriptions work and how you can customize and build off of it, including how easy it is to synchronize your products/prices/coupons/taxes with Stripe, and also a beta invite questionnaire to help pick the best beta candidates to start with.
Through the month, I'll be working on building a quick mini-SaaS of my own with Nodewood (dogfooding it along with my beta testers), and fixing any issues that crop up, looking to launch for real near the end of the month!
This month, I will have a lot in my plate.
For Designtack, I will be doing some major changes, feature-wise. There are some things to be done here and there to make it better.
For Psych, I will be writing more interesting articles with fascinating, psychological studies.
For "others", I am going to do some RnD and have to work on my college's project too 😅
Going to be launching Beta 2 of audience I am aiming to get it out to more of my wait list and get some feedback.
Beta 2 will be the MVP so once I start getting that feedback and make sure it works as expected, I'll be giving it a new landing page and launching the MVP.
Also plan on doing some work around contentr I want to try get the new scheduler up and running so that I can do my content marketing for Audience and generally start to dog food it.
August ended up being very heavy client wise so hopefully get some more time for both of these this month and move them forward.
This month I will continue to work on scaling the monitoring engine for Dowtime Monkey
The aim is to keep ahead of new users without paying more for hosting - I could just throw RAM at it but where is the fun in that! I think there should be efficiency gains by optimising calls to the database and tweaking the number of requests sent in parallel.
So users have something new too, I plan to start a new feature - status pages and alerts to MS Teams have been requested so probably one of these. What do you think would be best???
I also have an idea for another startup so I will think about whether it's worth having a shot at.
I'm working on Cultivate. It's a community-style habit tracker to help people cultivate new habits. I recently bought a domain and made the first deployment. It's far from ready, but I'm pushing new features on a daily basis.
In the meantime preparing all paperwork for Stealth Labs, as I'm registering it as an official business to be an umbrella company for my side hustle.
Last month I launched my first product Proltify and got my first customer.🎉 This month I will be focusing on the next steps for Proltify i.e. :
- Learn marketing
- Promote Proltify on various platforms
- Write a blog post for Proltify
- Feature improvements and fix bugs
Are you using Gumroad for subscriptions? Would love to hear more about your billing strategy & integration.
Hi @ummahusla , Yes, I am using Gumroad for distribution and subscriptions.
Gumroad allows creating a unique license key for each purchase made. When a user subscribes for Proltify they receive a link to download the mac app along with a license key.
On the app side, I ask the user to enter their license key for the first time. This key is verified with the Gumroad license verification API and the user can go ahead with using the app.
I'm still working on my small project: https://appea.link
I'm in the phase 2/4:
1) Technically: OK 2) First users: OK 3) First paying customer: Progress 4) Use paid money in ads: TODO
I'm working on Whatnote and will go live this month.
Whatnote is a dead-simple note-taking app inside your browser. So, we don't have to worry about where to write a quick pointer.
Also, I'm looking for 3-4 early beta users who can share their feedback with us, drop a commment if you're interested.
Continue the work on Chartbrew and focusing on acquiring the first paying customer(s). August was a slower month since I had to finish my master thesis and also work for the 💸💸.
Last month I started conversations with my audience and managed to grow the user base a bit, but I still have a lot of learning to do. I'm going to continue with the learning this month and try to do 50% building and 50% talking and learning about my audience.
I also joined the YC Sprint to get a push towards keeping myself accountable with the non-techy 50%.
If things go well this month I might also create Chartbrew stickers and send them to active users 😁
On the grand vision part of things, I set up a clearer plan for the v1 release which will be focused on data reporting and then make a move towards actionable charts with the post v1 updates. I'm trying to be more consistent with my ideas note-taking which lack in my day-to-day life. Going well so far and I recommend everyone to do it if it's not a habit yet.
✌
Just joined Makerlog and created our product: Blend
Blend is an app for playing board games online, with your friends, inside a group chat.
We are in beta for two months now and launched 4 games in total.
We are currently working on a revised version of one of the games and a completely new game called - "The Promotion!"
We are also aiming to reach 10k+ downloads this week and also improve our retention numbers.
I will keep working on Dailycouponlist / Education oriented coupon code site
PH upcoming page: https://www.producthunt.com/upcoming/dailycouponlist
I would be glad if you could support.
I'll be working on my time tracking software. Several users have requested the same feature, so I'll be focusing on implementing it.
I'll also be doing some content marketing
Continuing the work on growing and improving Plausible Analytics. August was a great month with more than 36,000 unique visitors and more than 600 trial signups. Plausible Analytics is now installed on 3,638 sites and we've counted 59,351,293 pageviews in the last month. That's 60 million page views fewer going to Google Analytics and the surveillance capitalism! Let's see where we can take it this month!
You are doing a incredible job, I love the product and the fact you are not using your privacy-centric focus to charge more.
@nblackburn Thank you Nathaniel for the kind words! Google Analytics is free and most site owners are unfamiliar with the idea of paying for analytics. As our goal is to remove GA from as many sites as possible we keep the prices as affordable as we can (while trying to run a sustainable startup that doesn't monetize data). Trying to make analytics a premium priced product would not help with our goal as in that case a vast majority of site owners would never consider removing GA in the first place which leaves the web in the same unhealthy position it is now dominated by one large adtech company.
I have started on a new project which is going to be a place to create and share trivia.
I'm trying to make and release my first game, along with a few blog post tutorials to go along with it!
I wanted a Gardening Game that used realistic data to determine scoring, so that people could just Google how to garden, and use real world data.
My POC is just Cherry Tomatoes, so I'm calling the game "Grandpa Toma's Garden". You get a loving, patient Grandpa Toma to help give you pointers.
This isn't a clicker or idle game, it's a legit garden simulator, no dials, progress bars, and the only numbers you see are lbs of fruit and inches in plant height.
We'll see how it goes!
Next.js all the way for the first version, and if I get to the end, I'll break it up into an over-engineered demonstration of my favorite tech, like Resist caching, GraphQL in Go (just to prove it doesn't have to be miserable, and more.
I've also got a data analytics tool to do better detailed reports on CRM based data. More on that later!
Still working on #Songcorder, vinyl-to-digital converter for owners of Linn music gear.
Hope to launch it this month as most of the bugs have already been fixed and those that haven't been are simply too complex to solve at the moment.
I launched the first version of a project I was working on.
It's called #whatnote. It's a note-taking app on your browser, on every new tab.
You can check it at: Whatnote on Chrome Webstore
Working on a Sales Sequencing & Web Analytics Platform called Drip Drop Email the idea is to give automatic followups, tasks, & emails a tie in to what that viewer actually does on the website.
Kind of like being telepathic, where you can see exactly how a marketing campaign affected a particular viewer. Very excited to release the first version in about a month!
I build a product ( GetPayHQ ) that helps #nocode Maker to generate a link to their Stripe Checkout Page. Instead of writing a bunch of code to set up their own Stripe Checkout Page, They can just link their Stripe account with my product, filling the form and a unique link generated. Place this link on their website and they can start selling.
What do you think of this product?
Trying to build a landing page and MVP for #peekpalette, which I hope can help you find a color palette for your next app!
How I’m thinking it will work:
- choose a layout that’s close to the app you’re planning
- color variations will be generated (or you can pick your own)
Would love your feedback on the concept, as well as this very unfinished landing page (best seen on Desktop for now).
Currently onboarding Users on my recently launched startup [https://smartbate.com/polls/](), still also upgrading and updating features on the app. Feel free to check it out, sign up and give feedbacks.
Smartbate is a social platform where people can vote as a form of debate on issues that concern them and see polling results immediately after voting.
I'm working on Amicu - an iOS app to keep in touch with people.
I'm completing the SwiftUI / Combine rebuild with a better UX, design and more features. I already got good feedback from beta testers.
Before it's on the App Store I need to:
- Get db migrations ready
- Integrate payment and premium logic
- QA
- Add some minor missing things
- New screenshots
Today I launch DailyCouponList on ProductHunt. https://www.producthunt.com/posts/dailycouponlist
🚀 I just launched the first version of soundescape.io and I'd like to try out different marketing channels now, collecting as much feedback as possible on the way.
ProductHunt and HackerNews launch is planned for the end of September, but I'd like to first build some momentum, let's see how that works out
Hello,
I have published the landing page of my new project : https://trainletter.com
I will see this month how the project is received and try to promote it.
I am working on the backlink builder tool for Influrocket. It will help people reduce their SEO time drastically and get more attention from google and other search engines.
I'm working on a better way for makers to collect feedback from their users.
I've worked on many different side projects, and one thing I've always struggled with is getting FEEDBACK from the users on my website. So, I built ShoutShare - a javascript widget you embed on your website that lets users submit feature requests, bug reports, or general feedback.
This month I'll be focusing on marketing (you may have seen ads on Makerlog!) and conversions.
☑️This month I finished and launched website for sketcha.io early access.
✍️I will be preparing and exporting first 3 illustration styles for final launch (we are planning at the end of next month).
✏️I will be designing a new illustration style which will be completely free to use and customize.
This month I'm graduating an MVP to the real deal. Mugshot Bot autogenerates social share images for your blog.
I came up with the idea in the shower about a month ago and got my first paying customer on Saturday. I'm dedicating the rest of September to finding more customers and tweaking the core product.
The 23rd of september we'll launch Misakey on Product Hunt!! 🎉🚀🚀
We are building an professionnal instant messaging 100% end-to-end encrypted.
- Store and share documents easily
- Instant chat with everyone
- Invite easily your clients (no account needed for them)
- You can adapt your workspace to your job.
Looks like I am late to the thread. Just joined Makerlog today.
I am building a social agency to help charities build their websites for free! It's purely a pro bono work and currently I am helping three charities across England, Netherlands and India.
I just started working on this new idea and would love feedback 🙌🏻
Check out Gigle. (Tagline: "the Google" for gig jobs.)
The idea is to help freelancers find their next gig by compiling search results from all the top freelance job sites, e.g. Upwork, Freelancer, Guru, TaskRabbit, Toptal, FlexJobs, Fiverr, and more. Search once and be done ✅
I was amazed this doesn't exist yet, and that freelancers currently have to search across multiple sites and apps individually to find their next gig. This will hopefully make people's gig lives a lot easier.
I am building a community of makers, coders, no-coders, indie hackers and digital nomads. I want to give quick access to their github, twitter, product hunt, indie hackers and product pages.
You can filter for specific people within the community (for example Belgian no-coders who have expertise in webflow). In addition I want to make a newsletter for makers, where they can share their product, expertise, etc. with other makers. My goal is to make it possible to quickly find capable team members for a maker collab.
I just launched the website: www.makerstack.club. I am now searching for the first people who want to join the list/community. So if you are interested and a tech profile, feel free to join!
At Pitter Pattr we are working on our first IOS app! It allows you to send sounds to friends and family to help communicate emotions, more info here: https://pitterpattr.com/iossoundkeyboard
Currently building small products like layers.news and loot.social
I'm also planning to launch two more tiny tools as well as my portfolio to get some visibility before I start working on my big SaaS idea. Yup, this month gonna be a busy month 😆
