Day 364 - Best & worst of 2021 https://golifelog.com/posts/best-and-worst-of-2021-1640832095804

I saw an annual review the other day by @ShaanVP that I really liked. It’s so simple yet catchy - just the best and worst of the year.

https://twitter.com/ShaanVP/status/1475166862476562434

Here’s mine:

BEST AND WORST PROJECT
Best: Plugins For Carrd
Worst: A 50%-done cohort-based course on design thinking for the social impact sector

BEST AND WORST EXPERIMENT
Best: #100daysofmarketing
Worst: Steal back curiosity.

BEST AND WORST HABIT
Best: Sleep habits.
Worst: Sedentary lifestyle.

BEST AND WORST TWEET
Best: The one about Twitter is just a game and just have fun, that got 51k impressions and 550 likes
Worst tweet: The ones where I engaged trolls.

BEST AND WORST PURCHASE
Best: My Keychron K7 mechanical keyboard. Note-worthy mention: My entire desk setup of standing desk, full back mesh chair, large monitor.
Worst: Every dollar I spent on keto treats. I always feel worst off after eating them.

Best: Tweet every day.
Worst: Tweet every day.

Twitter marketing - RTing yesterday's tweets, writing/scheduling tweets for the day,

Learnings
- DMs helps with algorithm as well. Anyone you have a DM convo with is more likely to see your next tweets (and vice versa) because it’s a high indicator of a connection.
-

Day 363 - Motivation is a blunt axe - Attempt Fit AF https://golifelog.com/posts/motivation-is-a-blunt-axe-attempt-1-fit-af-1640737652537

I see myself as an intrinsically disciplined person when it come to anything I set my mind to. But I’m beginning to see that motivation is but a blunt axe. I shouldn’t have to feel like I can swing it at any habit or problem I have. I can be clever about it.

I don’t have to struggle.

And it can actually feel fun!

Twitter marketing

- I need create a swipe file. Saving drafts on Typefully won't cut it anymore. Use Notion?
- New idea: I can repurpose my sketches for Lifelog! Just switch to writing theme

Day 362 - Productivity cave complete https://golifelog.com/posts/productivity-cave-complete-1640655513603

After 4 months, my productivity cave is 99% complete:

Ergo mesh chair
Sit/stand desk
Mech keyboard
Wooden palm rest
Apple trackpad
Ergo wrist pad
27" monitor
Monitor arms
Monitor light bar

Benefits
• I’m more embodied when I stand. Overall it’s an upgrade on self-care.
• More active movement
• My neck and shoulder pains are more manageable now
• More screen real estate. I real

Day 361 - Tiny Twitter hacks I learned & love https://golifelog.com/posts/tiny-twitter-hacks-i-learned-and-love-1640567252125

A compilation of all the tiny Twitter hacks I'd learned and love

Twitter marketing

Learnings
- when i struggle to come up with good tweets, it's a sign I'm not replying enough (similar to not reading enough for writing)
- my Twitter bio doesn't say what Lifelog does! What a blindspot
- Should my content be all about writing for creators only? Am I diluting my focus by sharing sales journey and writing journey? 🤔

Day 360 - I hit my $100 MRR goal! - https://golifelog.com/posts/i-hit-my-dollar100-mrr-goal-1640475936594

I managed to miraculously hit my 2021 target of $100 MRR.

Through the PURE GENEROSITY of others.

Made all the more meaningful that it happened on Christmas Day, a day and season of giving. What a miracle indeed.

@AndreyAzimov was my real life Santa Claus! 🎅 (Thanks man!)

😭 Words can’t even describe how grateful I am for the Maker Twitter community, and how generous we are in supporting one another, in encouragement, ideas, and sometimes, with our wallets.

Signing off this year with one tear of gratitude.

🎉🎉 Encore update to MRR by $16! That means... I JUST F**KING HIT $100 MRR!!!

Here's the crazy story of what happen... and how I meant Santa Claus in real life:

- Andrey Azimov of Sheet2site fame DMed me after seeing my tweet about $84 MRR.
- He wanted me to charge him a $16 subscription to close the $100 MRR goal before 2021 is up!
- "Are you serious? I don't even have a $16 subscription package" I said!
- "Go make one in Stripe and charge me now"
- "OK"
- Aaaand the rest is history

And that's how I hit my MRR goal of $100 in 2021. By the pure generosity of others. Made all the more meaningful that it happened on Christmas Day, a day and season of giving.

Andrey was my real life Santa Claus

Last update on MRR progress bar for the year... At $84 now!

Was stuck at $60 MRR since April. It finally moved in Dec!

I think $84 will be the last update for the year. There's still $20 unrealized MRR which won't be charged till mid-Jan (due to 30-day free trials), but at least that means I have hit $100 MRR on paper in 2021!

💵 Received payment for an annual subscription $110... thanks Justin!

That moves MRR to $84 now!

Day 359 - 99% sleep - https://golifelog.com/posts/99percent-sleep-1640394437271

Great way to end off my first calendar year in sleep biohacking (I started in 4th Jan) by hitting 99% on sleep score last night!

🌙 Bedtime 8:08pm
⏰ Wake time 4:35am
🛌 In bed for 8h 25m
😴 Asleep for 7h 51m
❤️ Heart rate 75bpm
📈 Sleep score 99%

Anything is possible after this.

Twitter marketing - learned/applied new tricks

• the Related tweet at the end of a thread - add a related tweet to keep the reader reading...how brilliant to apply something from blogs to a Twitter thread
• RTing yesterday's tweets about 12h later to catch followers from a different timezone
• Undoing RTs of own tweets the next day so that my feed on my profile wouldn't have annoying repeats of the same tweets
• Replying to other people's tweets using my own tweet (pasting the tweet url) plus some personal comments - a way to increase engagement on the tweet/profile, especially if a tweet is already going viral and you want to bump it up further. Similar effect to a RT/QT by someone else?
• setting time slots for certain types of content - 6am: 1st RT of yst tweet, 7am: 2nd RT of yst tweet, 11am: 5am club tweets, 1-2pm: RT of popular tweets from way back, 4pm: founder/creator tweets, 6pm: creator + writing tweets
• setting batch notifications for Twitter - to reduce distractions during the day

🎉 WOOHOO just passed 2k followers on Twitter!

A few thoughts and analysis:

• It’s always the one you least expect
• Emote it - tag a strong emotion to it
• Sweet endings - pair the emotion with a positive, actionable emotion

Day 357 - Fit AF goal https://golifelog.com/posts/fit-af-goal-1640219744599

So I created a new goal for 2022 – Fit AF.

What
It’s me voting for my health by committing to workouts and runs that I used to do with ease.

Present state: Run 20m, walk 100m. Can’t even do a few pull-ups.
Future state at end of 2022: Run 2km without rest. Deadlift at least body weight.

Why
• Since the baby and pandemic arrived, I stopped stopped exercising
• Keto diet helped me keep weight off, but just diet alone is not enough
• Go beyond simply maintaining to thriving, from physical health to physical wellness.
• Cardio for overall health, and strength training for building muscle mass, increasing insulin sensitivity.
• Exercise better, not longer.

How
• Start laughably small, and progress incrementally
• I got the whole year to make progress
• No milestone targets, just increase load as I feel

Running
Every Monday at 5am, go for a 10min walk and return. Lay out my workout clothes on Sunday night to reduce barrier.

Lifting
Front-carry my son for his daily walks (~10kg) as a start

🤑 Received payment of S$105 from Carbs For Keto for 1 month Banner ad and 3 months Standard ad
