Day 304 - October wrap-up https://golifelog.com/posts/october-wrap-up-1635652406056

Revenue:
– MRR: US$60 [No change, still need 4 more subs]
– One-off revenue: ~ US$210

Twitter stats - Oct vs Sep
– Tweets: 1014 vs 931
– Tweet impressions: 322.7K vs 180K
– Engagement rate: 3.9% vs 3.7%
– Profile visits: 29.6K vs 16.9K
– Mentions: 720 vs 427
– New followers: 359 vs 90

I passed mid-point of my #100daysofmarketing challenge. YET, there were no new subscribers to Lifelog. Based on MRR movement being the ultimate metric of success for me, it’s hard to say I had any real success so far.

Will Lifelog be that one true SaaS that will bring me to $5k MRR? Might be hard to expect that for B2C. I want to try a B2B product in parallel next. Exploring now.

Most importantly, Oct was the month where I can finally say “I am a marketer”! The metamorphosis is complete, the new identity had finally stuck.

I think that shift alone makes Oct a win, despite the revenue woes.

Made the /write page public to allow users to roadtest it without auth. OK now the /learn-more langing page truly is ready for deployment.

Side opportunity - can the public /write page now be a side tool for word count? Or saving quick notes on the web browser (as it's saved into localStorage)?

Day 303 - Anytime you [X], that's a startup idea there. https://golifelog.com/posts/anytime-you-x-thats-a-startup-idea-there-1635563114182

Fill in the blanks: Anytime you [X], that’s a startup idea there.

Anytime you have 20 browser windows open to do a task, that’s a startup idea there.

Anytime you see someone taking more than 10 steps to book something, anything, that’s a startup idea there.

Anytime you see a massive, bloated Excel sheet with hundreds of columns and thousands of rows, that’s a startup idea there.

Anytime you see businesses still using paper forms, clipboards and log books, that’s a startup idea there.

Good conversion copywriting helps, SEO writing helps, valuable content that’s contentious helps. Those are the only things I can control.

Perhaps. I got to engage a bit more on HN first before trying again

Day 301 - Indie hackers all need a bit of crazy https://golifelog.com/posts/indie-hackers-all-need-a-bit-of-crazy-1635389747662

As an indie hacker and solo bootstrapper, you got to be a bit loopy and crazy to keep going.

Earn $10 on the internet from a single new customer, after months of hard work, and I go “Yaaassssss!”
Earn $22k from a one-month consultancy gig, and I’m like “ok.”

This double life, this internal tension, is killing me. Such is a founder’s life.

You got to allow yourself some crazy, otherwise you’ll really go crazy.
Jason Leow Author

Haha no worries, bro! I mean, I'm grateful and all to still be able to feed the fam. $22k per gig is no small amount, so I don't wanna make it sound like it's nothing. I remember the time when I was gigless due to economic fallout of covid, and how thankful I was to finally get a gig. All in all, gratitude aside, it's more about personal sense of meaning and purpose in my work beyond survival needs.

Day 300 - 300 https://golifelog.com/posts/300-1635298759499

My 300th post here on Lifelog. Had it been 300+ days already since I launched Lifelog? It felt like forever… yet, gone by in a breeze. Indeed, the days are long but the years are short.

Over the 300 days, I made 7 goals here:

• Monthly goals
• $5k MRR
• 1% compounding
• Biohacking sleep
• Decoding coding
• Steal back curiosity
• #100daysofmarketing

How did I fare?

Day 299 - A high-signal metric for identity growth https://golifelog.com/posts/a-high-signal-metric-for-identity-growth-1635227486095

How I know I’ve successfully incorporated something into my identity – I no longer have hang-ups about doing the work.

That’s by far, the best measurable metric I came to when it comes to identity shifts.

It happened with coding, and now it happened with marketing.

Next up: Time to start shifting my identity to a “Wealthy Entrepreneur” and “Opportunistic Trickster”.

Day 298 - [Feedback wanted] Lifelog's pitch page https://golifelog.com/posts/feedback-wanted-lifelogs-pitch-page-1635131320850

I’m writing out a “Learn more” page for Lifelog. It’s kind of like a pitch deck, but in one web page. The aim is to share in detail Lifelog’s unique proposition, and increase conversion.

I want to build this in public, especially with the Lifelog community here. So guys, would love some feedback on the first iteration of the copy below.

Does it resonate with you?
Is that an accurate depiction of your writing experience here?
What works, what doesn’t work so well?
What can be improved?
What’s missing?
